The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has set up a presidential screening committee to screen two of the party’s presidential aspirants, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and the son of the former Prime Minister, Dr. Abduljhail Tafawa Balewa.
The screening committee under the chairmanship of the former national
chairman of the party, Dr. Ahmadu Ali is expected to screen the two
presidential aspirants at the national secretariat of the party in Wuse
Zone 5, Abuja at 2 pm.
According to a statement signed by the National Organising Secretary of
PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, the presidential committee members are
Dr. Amadu Ali - as Chairman, former Attorney General of the
Federation, Chief Bayo Ojo, SAN. Alhaji Yerima Abdullahi, Bashir
Dalhatu, Walin Dutse , Chief Jim Nwobodo, Prof. Stella Atoe, Chief
Jibrin Martins Kuye, Hon. Saudatu Sani - Chief Josephine Anenih as
members while Barrister Olusola Oke will serve as Member/Secretary
The venue of the presidential screening is the national secretariat of the party.
Also, the party set up a presidential appeal committee headed by the
National Chairman of the party, Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, with other members
of the NWC as members.
The members include, Prince Uche Secondus (deputy national chairman)
Abubakar Mustapha (National Organsing Committee) Elder Bolaji Akpan
Anani (National Financial Secretary) Olisa Metuh (National Publicity
Secretary) (Mrs.) Kema Chikwe (National Woman Leader) Abdullahi
Maibasira (National Youth Leader), Buhari Bala (National Treasurer)
Onwe .S. Onwe (Deputy National Secretary) Adewole Adeyanju (National
Auditor)
Other members of the presidential appeal committee are Kwon Victor Y.
Esq - 12. Senator Walid Jibrin, Dr. Shettima Mustapha , Dr. Talatu
Nasir, Chief Emmanuel Inwanyanwu, Chief Stella Omu, Chief Ebenezer
Babatope and Prof. Wale Oladipo is expected to serve Member/Secretary.
The date for the appeal presidential committee sitting is November 27, also at the national secretariat of the party.
The statement said that the Chairmen/Secretaries of the Screening Committee and the Screening Appeal Panel are required to collect the nomination letters of their members, screening documents and Appeal Panel materials from the National Secretariat of the Party before proceeding for their assignments.
